Timeline of the bottle
Production timeline
One hundred and thirty years. Charles Gardet opens a small House at Chigny-les-Roses in 1895. His son inherits it. Then the grandson. Then the great-grandson. Today, the fifth generation bottles this cuvée. Each one added something, a cuvée, a plot, a gesture, and the 130 Anniversary is the sum of all those gestures. It is not my cuvée. It is the cuvée of the five generations who brought us here, and of the unique story they wrote.
Main harvest
The Millésime 2015 was not chosen by chance. We waited, tasted, watched. We knew it would hold the eight years, that it would carry the lees, that it would tell the story we wanted to tell. The Pinot Noir (70%) that explodes with fruit and generosity, the Chardonnay (30%) that carries the minerality and the magnificent acidity.
Reserve wines
Four thousand bottles. Eight hundred magnums. Four thousand eight hundred in all. It is not many, and we wanted it that way: that this cuvée stay a keepsake, never a production run. Each bottle carries the anniversary gift box, black and gold, with the floral decor that wreathes the House arms. Released July 2025, for those who knew how to wait.
Tasting
Tasting
A wine for the moments that count. For a glass shared with someone you want to thank, for a dinner you will remember. The 130 Anniversary was made for celebration, and you know it by its freshness, its creaminess, the minerality that surprises.
Optimal serving temperature
8 to 10 °C (46 to 50 °F)
Colour
Golden yellow, fine and elegant bubbles, the hue of a long ageing on the lees
Nose
It opens without hurry. The fruit first, juicy pear, quince, white peach, in all its generosity. Then the white flowers, jasmine and acacia, like a walk in the vines at the close of spring. Last, the patina of the long years on the lees: the sugared almond, the roasted hazelnut. A nose that gives up its aromas minute after minute in the glass.
Taste
On the palate, the freshness and the creaminess together, that rare balance only time can give. The palate is full, generous, threaded with lemon, with brioche, then a mineral tension that comes straight from the chalk of our cellars. The finish returns to citrus zest, an elegant, lingering lemon, like a memory that refuses to fade.
Fine cuisine pairings
Several ways to celebrate it. With amuse-bouches, at the start of a festive dinner, like small gifts that open the evening. With cocktail canapés, at a standing reception. With a cheese platter, as the hour grows late and the conversations deepen. Or, more gladly still, with low-temperature cooked poultry and its ravioles, at a table gathering those to whom we owe one hundred and thirty years.
