Timeline of the bottle
Production timeline
Timeline of the bottle. Brut Tradition is a non-vintage; the House's know-how consists in offering a constant style and quality by reaching the perfect balance between the year's wines and a collection of reserve wines kept for this purpose.
Main harvest
About 70% of the cuvée comes from the most recent harvest, four years before today on average. It is the voice of the present: young fruit, tension, the candour of what good vines give in a good year.
Reserve wines
About 30% comes from our reserve wines, kept with care in our stainless steel tanks, some from the three years before the base harvest, others older. They carry the House's memory: a patina no single vintage can give on its own.
Tasting
Tasting
The signature cuvée of the House, a model of balance between the year's wines and reserve wines, expression of the Gardet identity since 1895.
Optimal serving temperature
6 to 8 °C (43 to 46 °F)
Colour
Honey gold, the characteristic hue of a Brut aged three years on the lees
Nose
First nose on chalk and white stone fruit. Behind it, the brioche of lees ageing and a touch of vanilla. Underneath, restrained toasted notes.
Taste
On the palate, freshness leads. Then come the white stone fruits, the velvet of Meunier, the directness of Pinot Noir. The finish returns to the chalk of our cellars, and lingers.
Fine cuisine pairings
Three ways to serve it. At the aperitif, with a few gougères and prawns seared on the plancha. At Sunday brunch, with scrambled eggs. Or on its own, late in the afternoon, for the pleasure of it.
