Our Heritage

Since 1895, Champagne excellence

Maison Champagne Gardet is one of the oldest independent champagne houses in the Montagne de Reims. Founded in 1895 by Charles Gardet in Chigny-les-Roses, at the heart of the Champagne Premier Cru appellation, the House perpetuates artisanal expertise passed down through generations. Our vineyards benefit from an exceptional terroir, classified Premier Cru, where Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay grape varieties express their full richness.

Whether brut champagne, rosé champagne, vintage champagne, organic champagne or extra-brut champagne, each Gardet cuvée is the result of a rigorous selection of the finest grapes and extended cellar ageing. Our brut tradition champagne embodies the perfect balance between freshness and complexity, while our blanc de blancs champagne captivates with its minerality and elegance. The blanc de noirs Premier Cru champagne reveals the power and structure of Pinot Noir from our historic plots.

As a B2B champagne supplier, Maison Gardet supports professionals: hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants, wine merchants, caterers, event organisers and importers. We offer champagne delivery across Europe, competitive wholesale champagne prices, and personalised service for bulk champagne orders. Looking for wedding champagne, corporate champagne or business gift champagne? Gardet is your preferred partner.

Terroir & Craftsmanship

The Montagne de Reims, cradle of our champagnes

French champagne is a controlled designation of origin product, exclusively produced in the Champagne region. The méthode champenoise (or traditional method) is a unique double bottle-fermentation process that creates the characteristic fine bubbles. Unlike prosecco or crémant, real champagne benefits from an exceptional chalky terroir and a northern climate that give the wines their vivacity and complexity.

At Gardet, champagne blending has been a mastered art for five generations. Our reserve wines, kept for up to 10 years, maintain the Gardet style year after year. The champagne dosage — the amount of sugar added after disgorgement — is precisely calibrated: from 0 g/L for our Dosage Zero champagne to 8 g/L for our Brut. This mastery of dosage distinguishes a quality champagne from an ordinary one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything about Champagne

What is the difference between brut and extra-brut champagne?

Brut champagne contains less than 12 g/L of residual sugar, while extra-brut contains less than 6 g/L. Brut nature (or dosage zero) contains no added sugar. At Gardet, our Brut Tradition is dosed at 8 g/L for a perfect balance between freshness and roundness. Our Extra-Brut 130th Anniversary is a vintage champagne of remarkable purity.

How to choose champagne for a wedding?

For a wedding, choose a classic brut like Gardet Brut Tradition for the aperitif (6 bottles for 40 flutes), a rosé for dessert, and possibly a magnum for the head table. As a B2B supplier, we offer tiered pricing for bulk champagne orders for events.

What is the ideal serving temperature for champagne?

Non-vintage brut champagne is served at 8 to 10°C. Vintage champagnes and prestige cuvées are served slightly warmer, between 10 and 12°C, to express their full aromatic complexity. Place the bottle in the refrigerator for 3 hours or in an ice bucket for 30 minutes.

What is a Premier Cru champagne?

The Premier Cru designation identifies communes whose vineyards are classified between 90% and 99% on the Champagne cru scale. Chigny-les-Roses, home of Maison Gardet, is a Premier Cru village on the Montagne de Reims, renowned for the exceptional quality of its Pinot Noir grapes.

How many glasses in a bottle of champagne?

A standard 75 cl bottle contains 6 champagne flutes (12.5 cl per glass). A magnum (1.5 L) provides 12 flutes, a jeroboam (3 L) provides 24 flutes. For events, use our glass calculator in the Champagne Guide.

Champagne vs Prosecco: what is the difference?

Champagne is produced exclusively in France in the Champagne region using the méthode champenoise (bottle fermentation). Prosecco is an Italian sparkling wine produced using the Charmat method (tank fermentation). Champagne offers finer bubbles, superior aromatic complexity and much longer ageing potential.

How to store champagne?

Store your bottles on their side, away from light, in a cool place (10-12°C) with constant humidity. Non-vintage champagne should be enjoyed within 2-3 years of purchase. Vintages and magnums keep longer: up to 10-15 years for great cuvées.
